Of course, every program has a set of rules, including Amazing Math. Our rules are below, and split into a few sections. Please read through them so you don't accidentally break any rules that we have.
We reserve the right to remove any individual from Amazing Math for reasons including a gross breaking of the rules. We also reserve the right to report any such gross breaking of the such rules to other programs, institutions, or committees.
In order to create a safe learning environment, we have the following set of rules or recommendations for the Zoom meeting.
We strongly recommend for everyone to be muted for the duration of the lecture. This way, the instructors and teaching assistants would be able to teach their class without being interrupted. If you have any questions or answers to questions, please ask them in the chat or submit your answers in the chat. During the collaboration time at the end of class, you can feel free to unmute and discuss problems with other students!
We recommend students to close their other tabs on their computers when attending our classes. If students do this, it would be less likely that they would be distracted and thus learn better from our classes.
The public chat should be used for on-topic, productive discussion. An off-topic discussion in the chat would likely distract students, too, and we want you all to get the most out of our classes.
Please don't share our Zoom links with other people. If you want a friend to join, please tell them to email us so they can register. This is to enhance the security of the Zoom meetings. We have the right to change class Zoom links at any time we want.
Absolutely no Zoom Bombing will be tolerated. It just wastes the time of the Amazing Math staff, and the students, too. Keep in mind that if you Zoom Bomb our Amazing Math meetings, you are taking precious time away from us that could be used to help others.
By joining our Zoom meetings, you adhere to the fact that we may have access to some of your personal information. Unless an incident occurs, your personal information will stay private at all costs.
We recommend for students to download or save a copy of the handouts and recordings. If students download or save the handouts and recordings, then they will be able to always access them. Note that you can always access Amazing Math handouts and recordings in our Google Drive folder, shared via email.
We recommend students to attempt all problems on our handout. Repeated practice makes perfect!
We will state if a problem or solution is not our own. Otherwise, please do not copy off of our handouts. If what we took is public on the web, then you have the right to use it for your own materials or produce your own. For example, using past competition problems or solutions posted online that we took our materials from for your materials is okay, but if a problem or solution is not sourced, please do not copy it from our handouts.
Please don't share our handouts with other people. If you want a friend to view our Amazing Math handouts, tell them to sign up for our program! This rule is in place so we can keep a running record of the true number of people who use our materials, and allow us to estimate what we need to do for the future.
Please email amazingmathusa@gmail.com if you see something wrong with a handout! We are humans, too, and everyone makes mistakes! There will definitely be times in which you see an error or typo in our work. If so, then please email us so we can fix them, because we plan on reusing handouts for the future.
